I have finally finished the book I am reading, K-9 Korea, which is about a dog regiment at the end and after the Korean War. At the end of the book, many of the men just went back to their normal lives back in the military, however some got in trouble for trying to escape the army. stealing things from the USA (guns, their dog, etc.) and a few got married and had kids. You may be asking yourself, "so what?". I think that this book is important because many people in the USA today are worried North Korea firing nuclear bombs over to the USA, thus starting WWIII. Plus, many men lost their lives during this war and we should never forget their lives, as said in the book, "the men agreed that their time in Korea had affected their entire lives." I would say that this book matters because it has a full link to the ties in North Korea currently. I would say that the takeaway from that book is that some friendships are forever, but some will not. I say this because the men in the book became great friends with each other, but in the end, the dogs had to be transported to somewhere else when the men left Korea. I think that this is still valuable today because some friendships might last a long time, like with siblings, but some might not last forever, like your middle school friend who is going to a different high school, but no matter who we meet in our life, we must never forget our past.
